Sheryl Crow: Summer Day

Cantante, compositora, guitarrista..., Sheryl Crow es una mujer con un talento enorme que ha conseguido ocupar un lugar importante en el mundo de la música. No, no hemos cambiado de estilo musical en Magiasoul, ni nos hemos vuelto locos; es cierto que hasta ahora todos los méritos de esta mujer se han basado en el pop/rock con toques más country, pero su nuevo trabajo la balancean hacia la búsqueda de sonidos más soul. Para ella que nació en Missouri, a cien millas de Memphis (100 Miles From Memphis) -como se titula su nuevo álbum- no le ha supuesto un esfuerzo especial. Creció escuchando por la radio a los genios soul del momento como Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett o Aretha Franklin, sumándose ya en los 70 otros como Al Green, Curtis Mayfield, Marvin Gaye y Sly Stone.
Además de la producción de Doyle Bramhall II y Justin Stanley, contará con la colaboración de Justin Timberlake en una versión al estilo de Al Green del ya clásico de Terence Trent D'arby, "Sign Your Name". Habrá una versión de otro clásico de los Jackson 5, "I Want You Back", todo un tributo a Michael Jackson, de cuya banda formó parte haciendo coros hace más de 20 años. Su single presentación lleva un título muy apropiado para la época en la que estamos, "Summer Day", una canción llena de color que inyecta optimismo, donde se puede intuir ese suave aroma retro que me recuerda al sonido Motown.
