Simply Red: tinte oscuro y brillante de la música

Pocos blancos son capaces de tildar la música con ese toque de color sólo permitido y alcanzable por un artista de tez oscura. Una cualidad especial que musicalmente se llama Blue-eyed soul, y uno de esos pocos es Mick "Red" Hucknall, líder del grupo británico Simply Red. Poseedor de una fantástica voz recubierta de un alma soul, desde sus inicios a mediados de los años 80, me vi atrapado ante la fuerza arrebatadora del grupo y de esa particular forma de cantar. Los sentimientos afloran al exterior, deslizándose como lava ardiente de un volcán en plena erupción gracias al tinte oscuro y brillante de su música.

Éxitos comerciales como "The Right Thing", "Something Got Me Started", "Stars", o "Sunrise" les han ido acompañando a lo largo de varias décadas. Aunque casi cualquier tema interpretado por ellos consiguen engancharme, sobre todo si tocan la vena melancólica y sensible como "Home", o "If You Don't Know Me By Now" compuesta por los pioneros del sonido Philadelphia Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff.
