Nacida en Washington y tomando el nombre artístico de Yahzarah (un tributo a su abuela, nacida en Ghana, cuyo significado es «la reina es la estrella más brillante») o Purple St. James, Ana Nicole Williams dio sus primeros pasos musicales a una edad muy temprana, participando en coros de la iglesia, y diversos shows y conciertos locales. Fue trabajando en los coros del álbum Mama’s gun de una de las grandes del soul, Erykah Badu, con lo que su nombre explosionó en el mercado de la música de estilo neo-soul. De ella tomó buena parte de sus cualidades musicales, al igual que de otros grandes artistas admirados como Chaka Khan, Minnie Riperton, o Stevie Wonder. Cuenta con una voz que aglutina con encanto y armonía, frescura, vitalidad y dulzura.
Ella no se prodiga mucho en publicaciones, pero de su último trabajo del año 2010 titulado The Ballad of Purple St. James, rescatamos este tema titulado "Love Come Save The Day". Ella comparte no sólo su natural y flexible voz, sino también el embarazo de su primer hijo en un paradisiaco lugar en donde a muchos nos gustaría estar en estos dias...
